Bedroom June: Putting into words what often remains just a feeling
Hamburg-based musician Bedroom June’s debut EP explores vulnerability, the search for connection, and fleeting moments of clarity—wrapped in a warm, electronic indie-pop sound.
What does an inner monologue sound like when translated into music? Bedroom June offers an answer that’s as intimate as it is layered. On her self-titled debut EP, out August 29th on her own label Lazy Angel Records, she transforms personal fractures into delicate electronic pop songs balancing vulnerability, distance, and a quiet longing for closeness.
Growing up as the daughter of a Turkish guest worker family, Bedroom June was exposed early on to different languages, perspectives, and experiences—a complexity that subtly shines through in her music. Not just as a theme, but woven into tone, mood, and storytelling. In May, she featured on the project album Songs For Joy auf der Veddel (Erobique & Jacques Palminger) with the Turkish-language track “Neredesin,” sung alongside her sister, vocalist of the band Dunya.
This EP marks her first full solo release, introducing a distinctive sound that feels minimalist yet rich in detail. Warm synthesizers, sometimes crisp, sometimes distorted guitars, flute, and striking vocal effects create an atmospheric soundscape that touches deeply while leaving room to breathe. Musically, Bedroom June comfortably inhabits an international space—far from typical German indie-pop clichés. Her sound is fresh and unique, contemporary yet deeply personal.
Produced with Jakob Hersch (Der Ringer, Monako, Wohinn) and mixed and mastered by Sebastian “Muxi” Muxfeldt (1000 robota) at Clouds Hill Studio Hamburg.
Bedroom June writes about the experience of feeling alien even in familiar places, about social exhaustion, and clinging to bonds that have long since started to fray. Her songs explore distraction, withdrawal, and trying to find orientation in the chaos. They open up space for reflection and give listeners a feeling of recognition—carried by a subtle need for closeness and the quiet growth that relationships and inner struggles can bring.
Her solo project grew out of extensive musical experience, including playing guitar in the indie band Deep Dyed and studio bass on Shitney Beers’ album This Is Pop! Before the EP, she released three singles digitally, which led to tours with Elephant (NL) and Albrecht Schrader (DE), as well as support shows for Blush Always (DE) and Francis of Delirium (LUX).
Naming the project Bedroom June after the room where she wrote her first songs isn’t just nostalgia—it’s a deliberate statement about intimacy, moving at one’s own pace, and music as a personal refuge. Bedroom June whispers—and that’s exactly why she stays with you.
