Dunya means world. This world, which the 5-piece band wraps in a dream robe with their debut. The self-titled EP sounds as if it had sprung from the lines of a storybook to gently invite you into a mystical world. Sometimes in Turkish, sometimes in English - The formation around Banu, Lukas, Mike, Seb and Christian creates colorful contrasts both lyrically and musically.
In the 4 songs bright psychedelic rock dances around tender dream pop passages. But Dunya always keep both feet firmly on the ground. The first release of the Hamburg-based band is a groove-laden dialogue between the psychedelic and kraut rock of the 70s.
Dunya show that they are not only good at dynamic riffing and creating broad soundscapes, but can also seamlessly harmonize them. In a precisely orchestrated symbiosis, playful synthesizers and barbaric fuzz guitars make peace; the peace the band tangibly longs for in their lyrics.
