Originally released 2003 on Buback Records. The Hamburgers obviously have a thing with numbers and simple album titles: The debut, released last year on Exile On Mainstream, was appropriately titled "No.1", the follow-up, released somewhat incongruously on the HH label Buback, otherwise known for hip hop, states laconically what is to be expected: "13 songs".

And in a way, the band name says what is otherwise the programme: Tigerbeat. That sounds pretty sexy to my ears, sounds like wicked basement bars, like ladies lolling on striptease poles in faux fur-trimmed clothing to sultry erotica radiating exotica sounds, like shaking beats, like chugging organ and wah-wah guitar, and as luck would have it, that's a pretty good description of the band, which unfortunately is still far too unknown.

Well, with this album that could and should change, because if bands like the JON SPENCER BLUES EXPLOSION, T(I)NC or ROYAL BEAT CONSPIRACY could find their audience, there should also be a place for TIGERBEAT.

"13 Songs", this is an all-round successful album, which you can hear that the band has learned its lesson in music history and has been working on their own version of sexy rock'n'roll with a certain perfectionist ambition for quite some time.

And among rock'n'rollers, 13 is a lucky number anyway, right?
